Manufacturer: Cipla, India
Pharmaceutical name: Danazol
Pack: 10 pills (50 mg)
Danogen (Danazol) is prescribed for women to alleviate pelvic pain and infertility caused by a specific uterine condition (endometriosis) and to address breast pain/tenderness/nodules resulting from a particular breast disorder (fibrocystic breast disease). It also serves to prevent swelling in the abdomen, arms, legs, face, and airway in both men and women afflicted by a hereditary condition (hereditary angioedema).
Danogen (Danazol) is an androgen that resembles testosterone. In treating endometriosis and fibrocystic breast disease, it functions by lowering the hormone levels produced by the ovaries, as these hormones can exacerbate the conditions. In cases of angioedema, danazol assists in increasing the levels of a specific protein in the immune system.
Danogen (Danazol) has infrequently resulted in severe (potentially fatal) blood clots (like strokes), liver disease, and elevated pressure in the brain (benign intracranial hypertension). Seek prompt medical help if you experience any symptoms of these side effects, such as weakness on one side of the body, slurred speech, changes in vision, severe abdominal pain, dark urine, ongoing nausea/vomiting, yellowing of the skin or eyes, fluctuations in mental or mood state (like confusion), or intense, persistent headaches.
Administer this medication orally, typically twice a day or according to your doctor's instructions. You can take it with or without food, but it’s crucial to maintain consistency with your choice for each dose. The dosage will depend on your medical condition and response to the treatment. Use this medication consistently to maximize its benefits. To aid in remembering, take it at the same times each day. Inform your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it worsens.
